PoE2 Precursor Tablet mods: best mods by encounter and how to read them

What Precursor Tablets and Towers do

Precursor Tablets are Path of Exile 2's map-juicing mechanic, and they have no PoE1 equivalent. Lost Towers are scattered across the Atlas. You first clear a Lost Tower as a normal map, activate the Precursor Beacon at the end, then slot tablets into it from the Atlas screen. Each tablet layers modifiers onto every map inside that tower's range.

The trick is that tower ranges overlap. When two or three towers cover the same maps, their tablets stack, and you run several mechanics at once on a single, heavily juiced map. That is how serious juicing works in PoE2: not one map at a time, but a grid of towers loaded with deliberate tablets.

Tablets come in several kinds. A plain Precursor Tablet gives generic juice — item rarity, pack size, more rare monsters. The rest are tied to a specific encounter: Breach, Expedition, Ritual, Delirium, and Abyss. There are also Overseer tablets that add Map Bosses for waystone sustain. This is a PoE2-only mechanic — PoE1 has no tablets or towers.

Mods by encounter: Breach, Expedition, Ritual, Delirium, Abyss, General

Each tablet type has its own prefixes and suffixes tuned to its encounter:

• General (Precursor): item rarity, increased monster pack size, more magic and rare monsters on the map. All-purpose juice for any farm.
• Breach: suffixes for the amount of magic and rare monsters inside Breaches, faster Breach meter fill, chance for an extra Breach.
• Expedition: quantity of artifacts dropped by Expedition monsters, more explosives and remnants, extra logbook-style chests.
• Ritual: more Ritual altars, cheaper tribute costs, chance to reroll rewards.
• Delirium: fog density, stack size of Simulacrum Splinters, reward progress. Running three Delirium tablets locks out other major encounters (Breach, Expedition, Abyss, Ritual stop spawning), but the Delirium itself gets as fat as possible.
• Abyss: abyssal monster effectiveness per closed pit, chance to contain feral pits, plus extra map modifiers.

Best tablet mods to juice, per encounter

The general rule: for targeted farming, stack one encounter across several tablets; for raw currency, take rarity and pack size.

• Delirium. Increased stack size of Simulacrum Splinters is one of the single best mods for currency farming — three tablets carrying it nearly double your splinter haul. Tablet effects are doubled inside Grand Mirror areas.
• Abyss. The classic combo: one tablet with "abyssal monsters have increased effectiveness per closed pit" plus "chance to contain feral pits", and a second with "map has +2 random modifiers". Layer irradiated tablets for rarity on top.
• Breach. Max out magic and rare monsters in the Breach plus meter fill speed, so you click through more Hands of Uul-Netol per run.
• Expedition. Artifact quantity and remnant count; artifacts are direct currency for logbooks and vendor trading.
• Generic juice. No wasted suffixes: item rarity + pack size + more rares fit any farm, and Overseer tablets with Map Bosses give the steadiest waystone sustain.

Why tablets are hard to read — and how coloring by encounter fixes it

The problem with tablets is that mod text looks identical across every type — grey-white lines in the same color. When you roll a stack of tablets with Chaos orbs or compare several drops in your inventory, you re-read whole lines every time just to work out whether a mod is Delirium or Abyss, splinter stack size or plain rarity. Across a three-tower grid, that is dozens of re-reads per session.

Coloring mods by encounter removes that friction. If Breach lines are always one color, Expedition another, and the top mods for your farm are highlighted bright, you read a tablet at a glance instead of parsing every word. That is where Prism comes in.

Coloring tablet mods in Prism

Prism (the flagship feature of the QoLab utility) recolors mod text right in the game by your rules. For PoE2 the tablet mods are organized by encounter — General, Breach, Expedition, Ritual, Delirium, Abyss — and you assign each family its own color. You can color by value too: highlight top splinter stack size or a high rarity roll in gold, and dim weak rolls to a muted tone. Named presets switch between farms.

Let's be clear about what this is not and how it works. This is not chromatic/socket coloring and not a loot filter: a loot filter colors drops on the ground, while Prism colors the mod text you read on the tablets and maps themselves. Prism works offline: it modifies local client assets only (Content.ggpk / _.index.bin) while the game is closed. It does not inject into the process, read or write memory, or interact with GGG servers. It keeps a full backup and has a one-click "Restore to vanilla" button.

Honest note on the rules: client modification is technically forbidden by GGG's Terms of Service. From what is known, enforcement has historically targeted bots and memory/automation tools, not offline cosmetic file edits — but that is an observation, not a guarantee. We do not claim "100% safe" or "you won't be banned". After a league patch you re-apply the edits, and that is it.

Pairing with map/waystone Mod Colors

Tablets are only part of the juice. Prism also colors waystone and map mods: no regeneration, reflects elemental damage, rarity and quantity multipliers. It makes sense to keep one color scheme — the same colors for the same concepts on tablets and on maps — so your whole juicing setup reads as one system.
